Cloud Computing Simplified .....

Hi ppl,

In this post, I will explain (in short) what Cloud Computing (CC) exactly means and what are the advantages of implementing it. This term has been found confusing for a lot of people and I hope to clear at least a few of the doubts.

The Infrastructure (Hosting) is one aspect of CC. Suppose you want to host a website and you host your website on servers. As your demand grows, until recently you would have hired more servers and you end up paying more, spending more time and effort. You would pay for this service continuously irrespective of whether you use it or not.

With CC, you can host your website on a 'Cloud' and get started instantly. As your demand grows, you can scale up computing resources as and when you require. If your website traffic drops down you can scale down instantly too. You won't need to waste time on (managing servers, install and upgrade softwares, databases). It's managed by paying up a certain fee.

You don't access or need to take care of your physical resources in this way. You just pay for it and focus more on the Website/Application/Business.

In this way you can rent computing resources (like databases, softwares, network ,storage etc etc.) and get started with your work instantly. If you've used e-mail accounts then you have used some form of Cloud Computing because you get the storage space of the mail service providers.

Some problems the CC might face is with the security and authorization concerns. Storing company data in a space provided by another source can make the users hesitate. The privacy needs to be ensured. Their must be enough security measures in place to protect client data and many other reasons.

I'll add up more details (simplified) ones later on ...

Thanks :)

Apple iTransparent Concept Phone

This is one of 'The Best' images I've come across for a concept phone. Apple has come up with these transparent phones which changes its display as per the weather. It's screen will display virtual droplets on a rainy weather, transparent look when its sunny outside, frost during snow etc ...

It's absolutely amazing to see the new level of designs and extraordinary thinking that brand companies come up with. It not only amazes us but also keeps us hungry to be asking for more. My last article http://techstuffwiz.blogspot.com/2011/11/apples-supply-chain-too-cool.html tells the steps that brand companies like Apple take to increase their value in the market.

I don't see the circuitry anywhere :D .. but it's nice to see something totally different from the rest. Keeping my fingers crossed for the concept to turn into a reality :)

Tips and Tricks for better System Performance

Hi people,

Following is the list to make your system performance better. These are easy tips to upgrade computing performance.

1) You can shut down your Windows XP system by going to Task Manager and selecting 'Shut Down' option . This option will shut down your windows faster than the conventional Start-Shut Down option.

2) Delete your Temporary Files, unwanted data as well as your History data in your Web Browsers

3) You can delete these unwanted data by using Window Washer software. It's a good one.

4) Defragment your drives in the system. This boosts speed as well as performance of the system.

5) Upgrade your browsers and software's to their latest version. Helps in increasing performance.

6) Use a light-weight anti-virus for protecting the system. Avast is really good on these lines. Also keep it updated

7) Keep a simple theme for your system. Avoid heavy themes, songs on Startup. Takes time while loading.

8) Delete programs from Startup which you don't want to use. Go to Run option and type msconfig. Under the window, go to Startup tab and uncheck the programs not required.

9) Scan the USB's or any other external disk drive for viruses before usage.

10) Avoid visiting fake websites and downloading it's contents. This can happen as spam mails or fake links can lead you there unaware.

11) Visit websites with valid certificates.

I'll post some more tips later on.

The new Microsoft Windows 8 is here long back ...
It has a new rich UI which provides for good navigation.

This first new demo video has been uploaded by the Microsoft people themselves.

Whereas for updates for the rest of the products, the list below is taken from blogs of google.

Sidewiki

Over the past few years, we’ve seen extraordinary innovation in terms of making the web collaborative. So we’ve decided to discontinue Sidewiki and focus instead on our broader social initiatives. Sidewiki authors will be given more details about this closure in the weeks ahead, and they’ll have a number of months to download their content.

Desktop
In the last few years, there’s been a huge shift from local to cloud-based storage and computing, as well as the integration of search and gadget functionality into most modern operating systems. People now have instant access to their data, whether online or offline. As this was the goal of Google Desktop, the product will be discontinued on September 14, including all the associated APIs, services, plugins, gadgets and support.

Image Labeler
We began Google Image Labeler as a fun game to help people explore and label the images on the web. Although it will be discontinued, a wide variety of online games from Google are still available.

Fast Flip
Fast Flip was started to help pioneer news content browsing and reading experiences for the web and mobile devices. For the past two years, in collaboration with publishers, the Fast Flip experiment has fueled a new approach to faster, richer content display on the web. This approach will live on in our other display and delivery tools.

The rest of the list includes Aardvark, Google Maps API for Flash, Google Pack etc.

Apple's newest products and plans

The Apple craze is reaching far beyond than what is imagined. The word "Apple" only gives one search result on Google if the fruit is what is needed :) . Steve Jobs's legacy won't be easy to fill as he has created a level of expectancy never ever created on such a global scale. Tim Cook has a huge job on his hand guys. Only time will tell what happens next.

Well, Apple will still come up with genuine ideas as it always has and it shows with what they are bringing in front of us.

Firstly, Apple has decided to go green. Well they already had and with referring an article from Steve Jobs, Apple is or will be a world leader in recycling its products. The're doing it all ranging from removing toxic stuff from their products to taking pro-active steps for max. recycling.

Apple Cloud I-Tunes
The users will not be loaded with tons of songs that they need to carry around in their hard-drives or worry about data loss. Some data is stored on the user's system and the remaining data is stored on the Cloud. This way the piracy influence would go down.

Apple-Vision
A 65-inch screen displaying Apple apps. Sounds cool huh. The infrared projected from the camera will analyze movements in front of the screen. And behave the way you want it to behave. You can gesture with your hand movements, tell it to display something else, email, load an app., watch HD movies, Video chat and many many more cool stuff. You can do it all here.

iCup
This one will be a hit. You can use this cup to heat the drink inside the cup using a USB drive connected to any device. The Apple logo on the cup is used to indicate the temperature of the drink inside so you know when to reheat it again if required.
You would save on power and this will offer convinience and ease at work and at home.

The iBoard and the iMat

The pic says it all

There's absolutely nothing to stop this guy . God knows what he'll come up with next . Well we can be sure it will be the best :)
